BSVTA member, Thornhill Security of Bristol, has carried out a challenging safe removal at the historic Longleat House in Warminster, Wiltshire.
The company was asked to remove a 72-inch Bankers safe from a tight location within the Grade I listed Elizabethan house, which was designed by Robert Smythson and John Shute.
Building work began in 1567 and the house opened in 1580. The house remains the ancestral seat of the Marquesses of Bath and is currently owned by Ceawlin Thynn. The 8th Marquess of Bath and his wife, Emma Thynn, the Marchioness of Bath.
Since the safe was too tall to fit upright, and with steps immediately behind the door, the team laid the safe on its back and carefully moved it through the doorway, completing the difficult removal safely and without damaging the historic building.
Another well planned and executed job by Thornhill in one of the UK’s oldest and most historical houses.
The crew additionally found time to take on a new role as auxiliary guards on the estate. All that can be said is ‘don’t give up the day jobs’.
