In an email statement from Steffan George, the MLA announced that they have postponed the AGM, planned for late June, as well as offering support to members.
“We are aware of a number of members who, whilst offering emergency mobile service throughout the pandemic, are now re-opening their retail premises, so don’t forget there is a sample risk assessment on the members Forum and Facebook group that you may want to adapt for use if you don’t have anything already.”
“Due to the current pandemic and the associated economic situation the board are delighted to announce that membership subscription fees have been frozen. Not only has the normal increase been withdrawn but there will also be the option to pay for your subscription by quarterly direct debit, thereby helping your cashflow even further.”
Steffan highlighted that support now was crucial for the industry:
“It goes without saying that following on from the pandemic and the after effects then membership of the industry’s leading trade body becomes even more important, with the advice, support, information available, and of course the promotion that Approved Companies get, so we hope that the subs freeze and the stage payment option are helpful to you in allowing you to maintain your membership. Invoices along with details of how to take up the stage payment option will start to go out at the end of June (for those who are on the July-June subs year).”
Steffan also detailed that the MLA’s service will be increasing again, “enabling us to get back to dealing with enquiries, dealing with DBS checks (feel free to start sending in your documents), looking at how and when we’re going to re-start training and exams, more work on the website, more work on promotion and of course on members benefits.”
